Elders and Deacons are selected by the local membership to serve the local church and community. Elders, or spiritual leaders, care for the church in spiritual matters, while Deacons, serve the church and community in both physical and spiritual concerns. Minister
Steve Foster
Stephen “Steve” Foster has lived in the greater San Joaquin valley most of his life. He grew up in Lindsay, and after attending Columbia Christian College and Pepperdine University, stayed mostly in the area. He began preaching part-time as a Freshman in college in 1967 and has preached in cities throughout the valley in places like Avenal, Strathmore, Oakhurst, and has preached full-time for churches in Los Banos, Vacaville, Fresno / Arlington Heights and served as Deacon and Elder in local churches throughout the valley. He was a Private School administrator, spent a couple years in finance, and worked in public education as a teacher, principal, superintendent retiring from Chawanakee Unified School District in 2012.
He has a Master’s Degree (MS) from National University in Educational Administration and an Doctorate (EdD) from the University of La Verne in Organizational Leadership.
After 10 years of part-time work with the Oakhurst Church of Christ, he retired to travel, spending time with family and their 9 grandkids. He has been married to Gail (Jenkins) Foster for over 43 years. They raised 3 daughters who are graduates of Yosemite High School.
He is returning to the Oakhurst church of Christ as our minister and church elder.
